The town's cozy square

Prætorius Square, which has been named after the first Moravian minister in Christiansfeld, is situated between the Moravian Hotel and Kongensgade.

The square is paved with the paving stones, which are characteristic for the pavement in central Christiansfeld.

In the middle of the square the ”town tree” is located in a raised bed. It is a magnolia tree. Linden trees have been planted along Kongensgade and here one may enjoy outdoor service from the Moravian Hotel.

Prætorius Square is the new central square of the town and it is used as a market square, for flea markets, auctions, festivals and the Day of Crafts etc. This square is also the place where Christiansfeld Wine Festival takes place – the square giving the wine festival the most agreeable and enchanting frame and atmosphere.

During the many events and all summer, the square is buzzing with life and activity and it draws a lot of arrangements and guests from the whole region.

When there are no events at the square, it serves as a parking space.

The square was renovated in 2006.
